Minnesotans - Grassroots help needed.
Feb. 18th, 2009 01:59 pmThere's a bill designed to enact legislation that will restrict STOLI transactions. STOLI transactions are life insurance transactions initiated by a stranger who stands to profit from the death benefits of the individual or the sale of the life insurance policy to an investment group. It's a bad thing. Minnesota's currently a major target for STOLI transactions because of the lack of legislation against it. STOLI is basically an investment group, acting through an agent, to purchase the life of an elderly and vulnerable person. That person won't be able to get life insurance for legitimate reasons while the STOLI policy is in place and won't be able to afford to buy their way out before they die.
