Tea, tea, more tea, and stuff.
Jun. 19th, 2010 12:57 pmI have something like 35 lbs of dry, looseleaf tea in vacuum sealed foil pouches all over my floor.
It was perhaps not the smartest thing to lay them out between computer and door.. or rather, small rack next to the door where my phone habitually lives.
The phone rang. I stood up from computer, jumped over tea.. and of course, my knee chose that moment to not exist so I crashed head first into the wall next to the door. Because I am a paragon of grace.
The second moment of stupidity.. realizing I am ready to start making tea concentrates, except I forgot one little detail - I have nothing to put the concentrates /in/. Time to start collecting 2L bottles and gallon jugs.
Current selection for the Tea Shop's 'ready to drink' teas:
Gypsy Caravan - a dark, smokey (literally, not descriptively) tea that can be taken with milk and sugar, if you are a complete heathen and must cream your tea. It's a very hearty tea that is yummy hot or cold. It is my favourite, and thus, it is being sold. I am secretly hoping everyone else hates it so I can have it all to myself.
Moroccan Mint - gunpowder green tea and mint. Traditional Moroccan Mint tea is made by boiling the water with sugar, adding mint and gunpowder tea, and then serving the pour from a height to give a nice sugar foam on the top of the cup. As WI laws dictate that I can't sell sweetened drinks without paying tax, and considering that I love very few people enough to go to that kind of trouble for a cup of tea for them, it will just be the unsweetened greenymint tea and y'all can adds ya own sugah. :p
Jasmine - green tea flavoured with jasmine flowers. This blend is actually much more mellow than some I've had. It brewed up quite nice. Mostly for those who wish they had been incarnated as a bee or butterfly and could drink flower nectar directly from the buds themselves. Sorry about your luck with that bipedal human thing, but this tea should help you cope.
Lychee - black tea infused with lychee essence. According to That Guy, if you add sugar, it tastes just like a lychee fruit. I disagree, since I don't usually soak my lychee fruit in black tea.
Tisanes:
Honeybush - "red tea", only without the tea part. A yummy, naturally sweet-tasting tisane chock full of anti-oxidants and other things that are good for you.
Spiced Rooibos - more "red tea" with chai blend spices. Again with the anti-oxidants and all sorts of hippie health things.
Lemony Mint - lemon verbena, lemon balm, mint, more mint, and yes, mint. Possibly some ginger. We'll see.
Hibiscus Blend - hibiscus, rosehips, strawberry leaf, raspberry leaf, more vitamin c than you can shake a stick at and yummy as well. A tart, crimson coloured tea that is lovely in hot, sticky weather. Also good for pregnant or nursing women, or women who want to become pregnant so they can later nurse. Or women who don't want to become pregnant, just want a yummy drink. Or men, who can't become pregnant. Pretty much anyone, really.
Dry teas:
Dragon Phoenix Jasmine pearls - green tea supersaturated with jasmine and rolled into pearls.
Breakfast Tea - a blend of Ceylon and Assam that goes well with milk and sugar, again, if you're a heathen and must dilute a perfectly good tea with milk. Why do people do that?? WHY??
Lapsang Souchong - Dark black tea smoked over pine boughs. It tastes like a good campfire smells. If cigarettes tasted as good as this tea, I would learn to smoke, but thankfully cigarettes taste like disgusting ash trays, so my lungs are spared.
Ginger Tisane - dry ginger. You brew it with boiled water and then drink it. Good for upset stomachs, colicky babies, and stings like a bitch if you get it in your eyes. I don't recommend that last part.
And all of the 'ready to drink' teas/tisanes will be available dry as well. I'll even have muslin tea bags so people can take their tea back to camp and make a cuppa.
My head Henchwoman is not available that weekend, and I'm debating finding a secondary Henchperson to help me run the shop. I set it up so it can be run by one person, because I'm smart like that, but ..well, I guess I'll see how busy it gets. It'll be an experience.
