People in my family need to stop dying. I'm running out of ideas for things to do with the cremains.

Most of Mom will be buried. I want some of the cremains to do something with, as a memorial.

Ideas thus far:

1. Wooden sundial with a drilled-out core for ashes, capped with a bronze plaque.
2. Borosilicate glass pendant or orb with ashes inclusions - problem being, I haven't found a glassworker who does borosilicate. I'm a klutz. If it's any sort of regular lampwork glass, it will be shattered, and then I'll cry.
3. Carbonizing the cremains, adding them to metal, having the metal turned into a sculpture. I don't know if this can be done, but have emailed a smith to find out.
4. Mixing her with clay, making a flower pot, and planting irises in it.

I also have a lock of her hair that I have no idea what to do with. My best idea for that is to make it into tiny, thin braids and put it inside lead came and make a stained glass suncatcher. Except that requires room to work on glass, and I don't have the space or the equipment.

bleh. I am at a loss.

My father once said that he was going to mix me with potting soil when I died and hand me out in geraniums to every person who attended the service. I told him find, but don't tell anyone that. He looked baffled. I said, look, enough people are going to be freaked out that I am in the plant. And when one of my friends, who all have black thumbs, kills it? Oh lord, Dad. They will have a full on freakout. I know *I* would.

Now that I am much older, apparently I promised my skull to my daughter for a pencil cup for her desk. I have no remembrance of this. I may or may not have been drinking.

Mix her with clay and make some sort of sculpture? Sandwich the lock of hair between two pieces of crystal and make a reliquary memorial thingy?

Here are some sites for people who apparently make borosilicate jewelery:

This one specifically makes cremation pendants and I think they are also borosilicate:

Thanks for that! I emailed the guy at Solstice, he's in Hawai'i and he only does the generic designs :/ (though the butterfly one is cool)

You know me. I'd wind up meeting someone who had the same one, there'd be some reason to take the necklaces off, and I'd wind up going home with someone else's dead relative around my neck.
