I started watching it the other day.

The pretty! Oh, the pretty! So the costumes are sometimes wince-inducingly inaccurate (Black toga, no tunic in the Senate? Seriously? Seriously? And a .. what, 13 yr old wearing a senatorial or equestrian tunic? whafu?) The naming convention being wicked screwed - Octavian would not have been "of the Juliaii" until Caesar adopted his ass, what with Romans being staunchly non-matrilineal, though as S. pointed out, they're probably using that to show his relationship. Ok, I can dig. .. hm, though now, thinking about it, he used it to his two rescuers so may have been playing up how he was important to get them to take him to Caesar.
Don't care. The dialogue! THE SHINY! *happy sigh*
I've only seen the first ep. I'm slavering to see more. And unlike Deadwood, this one gets a movie. Yay!
